Eye On Riverdale

Meet the Candidates Night

By on May 29, 2017

The team of Corrado, Rooney and DePhillips are coming to the Riverdale Senior Community Center this Wednesday, May 31st to share their views on the issues facing New Jerseyans todays. The festivities begin at 7:30PM and refreshments will be served.

Kristin Corrado is looking to win the Republican Primary for State Senate for NJ’s 40th District. She is running with Kevin Rooney and Chris DePhillips who are both running for General Assembly. You can find more information about the candidates at: CorradoForNJSenate.com

They will be joined by Riverdale’s own Borough Council candidates; Vinnie Pellegrini and Mike Kheyfets. Vinnie is currently serving as Council President and is seeking his second term, Mike is currently serving on Riverdale’s Board of Education and is seeking his first term on the Council.

The Legislative Branch of NJ’s State Government is broken down into the Senate and General Assembly; think of it as our version of the U.S. Congress’ Senate and House of Representatives. There are 40 voting districts and each district is represented by one┬áSenator and two Assembly Members.

New Jersey’s 40th Legislative District covers 16 municipalities in 4 counties; Allendale, Franklin Lakes, Ho-Ho-Kus, Midland Park, Ridgewood, Waldwick, and Wyckoff in Bergen, Cedar Grove in Essex, Riverdale and Pequannock in Morris, and Little Falls, Pompton Lakes, Totowa, Wayne, and Woodland Park in Passaic.

Eye on Riverdale encourages all residents to attend this event and to take an interest in your State, County and Local governments. The Federal Government gets all the attention but the fact is our State and Local governments have a much greater impact on our quality of life and financial well being. We hope to see you there.
